How to Make Program Fan

Make Program Fan

These sweet program fans are useful, too. They let your guests know who’s in the wedding party and what will happen during the ceremony. They also provide a handy source of cool relief if your event happens to fall on a hot summer day! These program fans are simple to assemble and custom style with any combinations of colors, paper, and ribbon you choose.

If you don’t have a planned program, why not print up a love poem on the fan instead? There’s no doubt this is a wonderful keepsake your guests will appreciate.

Here are the materials you will need to make one program fan:

• one 8 1/2” x 11” (21.5 x 28 cm) sheet of colored paper
• one 12” x 12” (30.5 x 30.5 cm) sheet of card stock or heavy craft paper
• one 8” (20.5 cm) length of ribbon
• spray mount adhesive
• pinking shears
• single-hole punch

STEP 1. Working with your home computer and printer, print your program or poem in the center of the sheet of colored paper.
STEP 2. Fold the large sheet of card stock in half diagonally. Cut along the fold with the pinking shears.
STEP 3. Fold one triangular piece in half again. With the pinking shears, trim the top of the fan to form a soft curve. If necessary, trim the fan at the top of the center fold to smooth the curved edge.

STEP 4. Cut the sheet with the poem or program into a triangle that will fit inside the fan. Be sure to carefully center the printed sheet so as not to trim off any of the information.
STEP 5. With the spray adhesive, adhere the smaller triangle to the center of the larger one.
STEP 6. With the single-hole punch, punch a hole in the bottom point of the fan.
STEP 7. Fold the ribbon in half lengthwise. Feed the two ends through the hole in the fan.
STEP 8. Pull the ends through the loop at the other end of the folded ribbon. Pull gently to secure the ribbon to the end of the fan.
